Tsriokhi Fortress - 1 Day

The tour starts from the village of Atskuri, from the guesthouse Nika & Giorgi. Before you head to the fortress, you will visit the mountains of Sakaro and Unagira and enjoy beautiful views from here. Tsriokhi fortress is also called Sakanape and is a historical construction in the Akhaltsikhe municipality. The fort dates back to the 12th century. The main aim of the citadel was to block the valley to Meskheti for the enemy coming from Imereti region. It also controlled the nearby villages. When the enemy invaded the territory, the signal to Atskuri fortress was sent from here.
